Rosapoo (2018)
Director: Vinu Joseph
Writers: Vinu Joseph (screenplay), Vinu Joseph (story)
Stars: Biju Menon, Neeraj Madhav, Anjali, Dileesh Pothan.
Rosapoo, which elongates to 2 hr 20 minutes, has Biju Menon essaying the role of Shanu and Neeraj stepping into the shoes of Ambros, who are trying hard to meet daily expenditures and settle huge debts. They venture themselves into many business projects but to no avail. Finally, the duo try movie business, for which they move to Chennai. The first half do not offer anything refreshing and there are no gripping scenes to keep the audience glued to their seats. The actors are also seen trying hard to perform their characters well. Vijayaraghavan appears as a money lender and Alencier as his assistant. Sudheer Karamana, a Gulf returnee, lends money for movie making. Nevertheless, the first half becomes engaging when these characters struggle to sustain in life through their witty ways. The central characters' dream now is to produce a movie with Laila, who has an attractive persona. What will happen to that dream? One will have to wait and watch.
The movie put forth the difficulties of making a film and also the hardships of actresses. Since the movie is set in a much early period of the Film Industry it sync perfectly with the story. But the story as a whole is not worth it. The film lacks solid making and the characters need some depth and characterisation. The film failed to entertain, movie has so many inside jokes which are inappropriate for family audience, while it even failed to entertain older audiences too.
I would rate the movie a 2/5. #Moviereviews #Malayalam #Vigalcollective #Blogging.
