Caddyshack (1980)
An exclusive golf course has to deal with a brash new member and a destructive dancing gopher. An elite country club has to deal with a brash new member and a gopher intent on destroying their beloved golf course. Comical goings on at an exclusive golf club. All the members are wealthy and eccentric, and all the staff are poor and slightly less eccentric. The main character is 'Danny'; he's a caddy who will do almost anything to raise money to go to college. There are many subplots, including the assistant green keeper's pursuit of a cute (obviously stuffed) gopher.

Caddyshack has a low-budget look that warmly welcomes the all-important teenage audience. Caddyshack, a derelict farce that lurches about in search of hilarious possibilities among the members and employes of a country club, is the latest misbegotten spawn of National Lampoon's Animal House. The first-time director, Harold Ramis, can't hold it together: the picture lurches from style to style (including some ill-placed whimsy with a gopher puppet) and collapses somewhere between sitcom and sketch farce. Essentially Animal House on the links, it's neither as raucous nor as outrageous as that definitive college comedy but it has the same rebellious spirit and a great cast of comedy legends showing the young co-stars how it's done. In the vein of "us poor guys against those rich s.o.b.s" begun with Animal House comes this slapstick laden farce of the same hijinks on a snobby golf course. Some Saturday Night Live alum are there to solidify the "it's the revolution, so pass the joint" aesthetic, while old school comedians hold down the main plot line. It's a mixed bag with spotty humor, most efforts embarrassing and groanworthy. Save this one for one of those nights you and the missus open up that special package hidden in the back of the freezer to smoke to remember the old days of "we thought we were rebellious" youth.
I would rate the movie 2.5/5 . #caddyshack #moviereview #vigalcollective #Blogging.
